Wow How Time Flies

I can't believe it's been 4 weeks already... Our little girl is still the the most darling little thing ever.  She weighed in at 7lbs 7oz and 20.5 in long at her 2 week apt.  She is definitely getting bigger.  When we took her home from the hospital she weighed 6lbs 12oz, so we can definitely tell she is filling out.  She does not like her arms wrapped up when she sleeps (sometimes I can get away with it).

  •  She hates having people touch or hold her hands, she jerks them away when you try.
  • Her hands are almost always open, and she rests them in funny positions on her face very daintily * not sure if that's a word.
  • She doesn't like to take her binki but we still give it to her and sort of hold it in her mouth and eventually she will take it.. But she will only take the Nuk ones and no others.
  • She takes bottles when needed, although not very willingly.
  • She gets hiccups ALL the time.
  • She is becoming more alert and will follow your face when you move.
  • She LOVES to be held, and can tell when she isn't being held.
  • She is starting to lift her head more and more.
  • She does pretty good with tummy time.  She sort of just lays there.

Hayden's way of "playing" with Ellery

 Happy Valentine's Day
I didn't realize my little boy was so "big"

These are her 4 week old pictures

This was the first morning after we came home...it was so adorable he wanted to see his baby.

Ellery Mae Cahoon

Well for those of you who haven't heard, our little princess is here.  It's taken me a little while to post because I can't figure out what's going on with my blog.

Friday January 18, 2013 we received a phone call from the hospital around 7:30 a.m. to see if we could be to the hospital by 9:00 to be induced.  Our world was about to change again.  We got up got ready and woke Hayden to say goodbye and take one last family picture of just the 3 of us.  We arrived at the hospital at 9:00 a.m. got checked in and then it began.   I got pitocin at 10:00 started into Labor, got my epidural at 12:30, water broke at 1:00.  Around 3:20 I told Tyler to call the nurses in because I was feeling a little bit of pressure I didn't think it was enough that they would say I was ready but just to be sure I had the nurse come to check.  Sure enough at about 3:25 p.m. she said we were ready to get my midwife and start pushing.  It was time to have a baby.  My midwife arrived just a second later and got everything ready at 3:30 I started pushing.  Ellery had been so low that when I started pushing we didn't even need to push on contractions. At 3:33 p.m. our precious little girl arrived with 3 pushes.  She was perfect, she came out crying and very healthy.  She weighed 7lbs, 5oz and was 20in long.  We were able to hold her and love on her right after she was born which was perfect!

She has been the best little baby ever.  She sleeps all the time.  When we first came home she was sleeping so much and we couldn't get her to wake up to eat every 2 hours like they say you should.  Since she was born she has been going 3-4 hours in between feedings which is great and at night it's usually the same but sometimes we get 5-6 hours at night.  We couldn't be more blessed.  Hayden had a hard time with her the first week.  He wasn't mean to her but he started acting out with Tyler and I.  He started hitting and kicking and throwing major temper tantrums.  He wouldn't touch or hold Ellery, he would tell us she was "EWW GROSS"  He is liking her more and more every day.  He has now held her a couple of times, and he will kiss her forehead, hold her hands and let her take baths with him.  It is the cutest thing when Hayden says her name it's "baby Elwee" there is always the baby in front it's never just "Elwee" We couldn't be more blessed than to have 2 perfect children.  I don't know how you could love anything more.  I have walked in on Hayden a couple of times when Ellery has been crying in her swing or her car seat and he was rocking her car seat back and forth and he was singing "rock a bye baby, in the treetop"  and saying it's ok don't cry.   Life is great I sure love these two kiddos!
